Water-wise Food Forest Maintenance with John Valenzuela

February

16, 2014

Sunday

From 10:00 AM TO 2:00 PM
Event: Petaluma
Status: Closed

The drought is on and now is the time to fine-tune your food systems for the dry season ahead. If you want to learn how to improve the health of your water-wise edible landscape join John Valenzuela, President of the Golden Gate Chapter of the Rare Fruit Growers, for a day of fruit tree pruning and propagation.

The day will begin with a tour of Cavanagh Center Community Food Forest – an ecological landscape that features water efficient strategies to maximize plant production.  Following the tour we’ll prune selected fruit trees and plants under John’s expert guidance.  After getting our hands dirty we’ll break for a potluck lunch and then finish the day propagating the water-wise trees and plants harvested from the site.

Join us for a day of fruit tree pruning, food forest maintenance, and community gathering.  Leave with an abundance of water-wise knowledge, skills and plants for your own garden!

What to bring: Questions, friends, potting containers, pruners, hat, gloves, sunscreen, water bottle, plate, silverware, and a small potluck item to share (enough for 4-6 people).
